GOD’S COVENANT- A CALL TO GOD’S PERFECT PEACE: “You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind [both its inclination and its character] is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You, and hopes confidently in You. So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages].” (Isaiah 26:3)
Today as I spent time with my God, I was reminded of all the believers whose minds are not at peace. I can be included in this number at times. Many people are saved but for one reason or another are stuck in worry, sadness, misery and disappointment.

I have a question for all of us today. Do we really believe God means what He says and says what He means? Do we believe that God is good for His word? Is God’s word true?

The above word of the living God who is the same yesterday, today and forever says that He will guard us and keep us in perfect and constant peace. That is his part!

We too have a part in this. What is it? We are to stay our mind on Him? Can we have perfect and constant peace without staying our mind on Him? That is not what He tells us! But often we are trying to take the shortcut to perfect and constant peace of mind. It has never worked that way and never will! God instructs us what to do!

God never leaves us hanging for direction like so many teachers do today, speaking in half truths. He tells us how to stay our minds on Him in order to be at a place to receive His perfect and constant peace of mind.

He tells us to stay our minds on Him. We need to commit ourselves to Him, lean on Him and hope confidently in Him. The hope expressed here is not world hope, but earnest expectation with a future assurance! In order to mature as Believers to this point, it is vital that we spend time with God and His word! Half measures will avail nothing!

We need to get to a place in our lives where we can hear the voice of God. So many today are looking for great signs, confirmations, etc….How did Elijah hear the voice of God or more accurately how did God speak to Elijah?

“And He said, Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord. And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; And after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire [a sound of gentle stillness and] a still, small voice.” (I Kings 19:11-12)

It is through a state of perfect and constant peace of mind that we will hear that still, small voice!

I need Thee every hour, most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine can peace afford.
o Refrain:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Every hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.
