GLORY TO GLORY

GOD’S COVENANT- A CALL TO LIBERTY: Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom). (II Corinthians 3:17)
WE ARE CALLED TO LIVE IN LIBERTY
The work of Christ at the cross is our emancipation proclamation! We are to be totally free of all bondage! Today, I want us to see two important factors regarding our liberty and our Lord!
The Greek word for liberty here denotes a slave purchased by a god who could not pay the money for himself. Upon the purchase at the temple, a document was drawn up with the words “for freedom.” Once the purchase was complete, no one could enslave him again for he was the property of the god. The word actually means “free man.” In the scripture above it refers to the “liberty” of the access to the presence of God!
The act of Jesus freeing us is a complete act! Christ did not liberate us to bring us into another form of bondage, but in order to make us completely free from any and all bondage! JESUS DIED, AROSE AND ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN AND BOUGHT OUR TOTAL FREEDOM! (Yes, I am shouting and so should we all.)
Now let’s look at the foundation and vital key to our liberty. It is found in the word “Lord.” The Greek word means supreme in authority, having power and authority, complete master and owner!
In order to live our lives in total freedom from bondage, we must make Jesus the Lord of every area of our lives! There is no other way! I know from my own experiences there have been area of my life that I have not made Jesus supreme in authority and my complete master and owner. Not surprising I continued to struggle in those areas until I did turn them totally over to the supremacy of my Master.
For each of us, the areas that cause to stay bound, that we stubbornly hang unto may be different. It is time to take a personal inventory to see where we have not given a particular aspect of our life to the total authority of the Master! Maybe it’s addiction, fear, worry, our health, our finances, our relationships, selfishness, our own worldly desires, etc… The list is endless on that side of the ledger. On the other side of the ledger we find simple completeness-freedom and liberty.
Purpose today not to live one more minute in any kind of bondage. Christ made you free. Let us make Him Lord and Master of every area of our lives. Most of us know exactly what those areas are! But let us also ask the Holy Spirit to show us where we have not yet turned our lives over to the Lordship Of Jesus!
TODAY, RECEIVE THE LIBERTY THAT JESUS BOUGHT AND PAID FOR.
IN [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and do not be hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have once put off]. (Galatians 5:1)
