GOD’S COVENANT OF TRUTH AND FREEDOM- “Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected?” (II Corinthians 16:5)

Last time we began looking at the words of Jesus concerning abiding in His word and walking out life in truth and in freedom. Again, I ask the question, why teach this? Simple, if we want to be, do and have what the word says, we have to do what the word says. I want to walk in the fullness of God and our heart is for all believers to walk in the victory, bought and paid for by Jesus, our Lord!

Tomorrow we will continue with the word study of John 8:31-32,36. But today I want to pause a moment and reflect on my commitment to hear and do what the word teaches. I mean, to reflect on my relationship with the Father and His word as it applies to EVERY area of my life. I invite you to do the same.

In today’s scripture, we see Paul instructing the Corinthians (and us) to examine, test and evaluate themselves to see if they are indeed walking life out in faith and subsequently bearing the proper fruit. Notice that he said the “proper” fruit. We will produce one fruit of one kind or another. But we can see that there is a fruit which is proper. Fruit produced by a spirit filled life of faith.

I find a key word here to be “examine”. In the Greek it means to scrutinize, to pierce or search into. I must examine and test myself in the light of my applied faith and resulting fruit. If I am coming up short in areas of my life, Paul says it is not Christ, but me.

Where is the greatest disconnect between what God promises us and what we actually manifest? Let’s see what Jesus said about people, His word and what prevails on our life. Look at Luke 6:46-49. Keep in mind as you prayerfully meditate the following scripture that Jesus did not say storms would not come in a believer’s life. He said what the outcomes would be for those that hear but do not do and for those that hear and then do the word.

Why do you call Me, Lord, Lord, and do not [practice] what I tell you?
For everyone who comes to Me and listens to My words [in order to heed their teaching] and does them, I will show you what he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against that house and could not shake or move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock. But he who merely hears and does not practice doing My words is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great.

Join me in this self- examination. We have given far too much away for far too long by not knowing God’s word or by knowing it and not doing it! This is not a day and time when we can afford to be slackers where the word of God is concerned. As the saying goes, “half measures avail nothing.” I would slightly disagree with this old saying. Half measures will avail something. They will produce “improper fruit” consisting of worry, anxiety, lack, discouragement, sickness, despair and defeat. Let us prayerfully examine ourselves! I have a question for you? What’s at stake in your life and the lives of your loved ones?

If you live in Him, you will bear much fruit! Jesus said it and we believe it! How about you?

We love you. Be blessed. May the God of light fill your hearts and lives with light and liberty!
A Guiding factor is always: THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND!
TREASURES OF WALKING WITH GOD: “O GOD, YOU ARE MY GOD, EARNESTLY I SEEK YOU.” (Psalm 63:1) It is only when I am wholly surrendered to the Spirit that I will be able to live according to God’s will.
