GOD’S COVENANT- THE REALITY OF REDEMPTION: “Now may the God of peace [Who is the Author and the Giver of peace], Who brought again from among the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, by the blood [that sealed, ratified] the everlasting agreement (covenant, testament), Strengthen (complete, perfect) and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; [while He Himself] works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ (the Messiah); to Whom be the glory forever and ever (to the ages of the ages). Amen (so be it).” (Hebrews 13:20-21)

Previously we have talked about the fact that you choose the reality of your life by what you focus on. You can accept, believe, and act on what the world around you says is reality or you can choose to believe and act on what God’s Word says is your reality. Your reality will become what you focus on.

Look at what today’s scripture says about You. Focus, believe, and act on what God says about you. God has a complete and perfect will for your life! He will strengthen, complete and perfect you and will equip you with everything good so that you can carry out His while He works in you.

Paul says it to us this way in Philippians 1:6. “And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.”

Now let’s look at Jeremiah 29:11 for another declaration of God’s will for your life and the reality in which you can choose to live. “For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope (earnest expectation and an assurance of the future) in your final outcome.”

Here are two other translations of Jeremiah 29:11. “For I have known the thoughts that I am thinking towards you, an affirmation of Jehovah: thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you prosperity and hope.” (Young’s Literal Translation of the Holy Bible) “I have not lost sight of my plan for you the Lord says, and it is your welfare I have in mind, not your undoing, for you too, I have a destiny and a hope.” (The Holy Bible: A translation From the Latin Vulgate in the Light of Hebrew and Greek Originals)

Isn’t it interesting that God specifically says that “HE” has not lost sight of His plan for us. If we are not walking in God’s perfect plan for our lives, the disconnect has to be on our end. Many times we are like a ship at sea. We know there is land somewhere close by but we can’t see it because of a foggy darkness. All we see is an expanse of darkness all around us. We know that there is a reality of land somewhere. But our current reality is shaped out of the darkness and the haze that we see and feel. As we see and feel our surroundings, our focus is no longer on the reality of the land that we know at some level in our consciousness is out there, but rather on the reality of our situation. We stop believing, acting and speaking of the reality of the land but rather on the reality of our circumstances.

At the heart of this predicament are Satan’s dirty little secrets-fear, focus and condemnation. As our focus shifts from the reality of God’s Word, love, power, grace, and the reality of our redemption, fear comes and serves as the basis for a forgery of a new reality. Constant self-condemnation becomes an eager partner with fear to shape your new reality. This new reality is counterfeit and a total lie from the Father of lies. But we buy into it with all of our soul-our mind, will emotion, and intellect. When you look out over the horizon of your reality, what do you see? Paul tells us that we must die to ourselves and our own view of reality in order to live in the truth of God’s reality.

Here are the words of a wonderful poem by Henry Van Dyke.

The mountains that in close the vale
With walls of granite, steep and high,
Invite the fearless foot to scale
Their stairway to the sky.

The restless deep dividing sea
That flows and foams from shore to shore,
Calls to its sunburned chivalry,
“Push out, set sail, explore!”

The bars of life at which we fret,
That seem to prison and control,
Are but the doors of daring, set
Ajar before the soul.

Say not, “Too poor,” but freely give;
Sigh not, Too weak,” but boldly try;
You never can begin to live
Until you dare to die.

This went a little longer than usual, but it was worth it. God’s reality for life is as close as your next breath. Next, we will begin the process of focusing on God’s reality for your life. Stay Connected, Stay in Faith, and Stay in Expectancy!

TREASURES OF WALKING WITH GOD: “O GOD,YOU ARE MY GOD, EARNESTLY I SEEK YOU.” (Psalm 63:1) It is only when I am wholly surrendered to the Spirit that I will be able to live according to God’s will.
