GOD’S COVENANT- OUR PLACE OF ABIDING: “Simon Peter answered, Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words (the message) of eternal life.”
TO ALL: WITH THE HELP AND BY THE CONVICTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT LET US EMPTY OURSELVES OUT AND ABIDE TOTALLY IN HIM:
In our scripture today Peter made a powerful confession of faith. In chapter 6; along with Peter we see Jesus feed five thousand, walk on the water during a strong storm, and teach the multitudes. No doubt Peter’s faith was stirred to an incredible level.
As a result of Jesus’ teaching, many disciples left Him. He then asked the twelve if they too would leave Him. That is when Peter confessed His faith in Jesus. Many have made similar confessions only to stumble later. Peter did too. That is not the point here. The point is, there is no place or nowhere else to go or no one else to go to for a born again believer.
Weakness in believers and subsequently the very Body of Christ arises from the fact that we stray from the Lord. Sometimes the straying is very subtle over a long period of time but with far reaching consequences. We stray to men, preachers and teachers. We stray to activities in the church. We stray to the entertainment value of the church. We stray to popular people friendly doctrines. We stray to a watered down, diluted form of God’s will and word for us. We buy into the alloy of compromise. If we lay down our religious lenses and pride, we know it’s true.
So then, what’s the remedy? With the applied remedy, defeat and disappointment in life turn into victory and continuous joy. The remedy is each one of us arriving at an unshakeable and unmovable conviction deep in our inner most being of who Jesus is in us and who we are in Him. Without such a conviction, every competing voice will be a distraction.
Here is where many of us get tripped up. We think it is the big and obvious snares that trip us up and defeat us. That is certainly true in some cases, but look at what Solomon says in Song of Solomon 2:15: “Catch the foxes for us, the little foxes that are ruining the vineyards.”
Often, it is what we perceive as little things that we overlook or outright ignore in God’s word, for whatever reason. I have and still learn this the hard way. What are the little foxes in our life that hinder us from giving Jesus total Lordship in our lives? I have some and you do too! In life, it is those areas where we have not given Jesus total Lordship that we continually struggle. More tomorrow! Tonight I am going to earnestly work on my convictions of who Jesus is in me and who I am in Him. I am going to identify specifically my foxes and ask myself why I allow them to weaken my walk with Jesus and the Father.

TREASURES OF WALKING WITH GOD: “O GOD,YOU ARE MY GOD, EARNESTLY I SEEK YOU.” (Psalm 63:1) It is only when I am wholly surrendered to the Spirit that I will be able to live according to God’s will.
