GOD’S COVENANT- A PLACE OF EXPECTATION: “For the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus, the law of our new being has freed me from the law of sin and of death.” (Romans 8:2) “But the person who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him.” (I Corinthians 6:17)

Glory to the Living and Almighty God! It is a blessing and an honor to be back with you. God is going to do marvelous things in Kenya and Uganda. We as well as our African brothers and sisters are at a high level of expectation. This also includes many of you who are sending us with your financial and prayer support.

Today I am anxious to speak the Word which God has given me for you. This will be the beginning of a several day series on a key to manifesting God’s power, love and Kingdom purposes in our lives. The key is EXPECTATION! Expectation says that God will do it and does not say that maybe He will do it. This is a revelation that has forever changed the way that I look at life and God. It will do the same for you!! Let’s get started immediately.

As always, a strong foundation of truth is important. So, we will start with the two scriptures that God showed me this morning. The first is found in Romans 8:2. Before we can live in an atmosphere charged with constant and continuous expectation, we must grasp in our spirits and minds the awesome reality of whom and what we are in Christ! This revelation, the same revelation that Peter received in Mathew 16:16 (Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”) is at the very core of the reality of who we are and what we have in Christ. Look at Romans 8:2 with me. “For the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus, the law of our new being has freed me from the law of sin and of death.”

Meditate on this and get it so deeply into your spirit and mind that all of Hell can’t get it out. First see that you are a “new being.” At the heart of this is the reality that this is a spiritual fact that has physical implications. It is much stronger than a fact, Paul says it is law. It is law from the throne and very heart of God! The Greek word for “law” used here means the establishment set up and recognized as a standard for administration of justice. In the usage of the word, law, in referring to the law of the Spirit of Life which is in Christ Jesus, it is describing the principle by which the Holy Spirit acts as the imparter of life.

What life is Paul referring to here? What life is being imparted to me and through me by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus? Let’s find out! The Greek word for “life” here is ZOE. Often it is defined as the Life and Nature of God. Strong’s defines it as follows. (As you read on, remember that this word, this Life of God is now in you TODAY, not someday, not in the sweet by and by, but NOW!) Notice that Paul says that this new life has (past tense) freed me….. Zoe means life in the absolute sense, life as God has it, life as God gave to Jesus to have in Himself and which Jesus manifested in the world, life of which men become partakers of through faith in Jesus Christ, and the present actual possession of the Believer because of his relationship with Jesus.

To further understand this life we now have, let’s see what Jesus had to say about it. “In order that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him, and relies on Him] may not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever!” (John 3:15) “I assure you, most solemnly I tell you, the person whose ears are open to My words [who listens to My message] and believes and trusts in and clings to and relies on Him Who sent Me has (possesses now) eternal life. And he does not come into judgment [does not incur sentence of judgment, will not come under condemnation], but he has already passed over out of death into life.”(John 5:24) “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” (John 10:10)

We were formerly under the law of sin and death. Sin and death provided the standard for the administration of justice in our old beings. Sin and death was the rule of law under which every aspect of our lives was lived, governed and dominated by Satan and His world. We lived under his spiritual and worldly laws of operation. Accordingly, we suffered and were destined to suffer the brutal consequences of living under such rule of law. BUT, BUT, BUT, BUT then came Jesus and by His BLOOD HE SET US FREE! The Greek word for “free” that is used here means (remember this talking about you and I) to liberate, to exempt from liability, to deliver, to deliver from bondage. This dear people, is our New Life! WE ARE FREE FROM THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH!!!!!!!!!!! Death is spiritual separation from God and is a consequence of sin. YOU AND I ARE FREED FROM SPIRITUAL SEPARATION FROM GOD! YOU AND I ARE FREE IN THE NAME OF JESUS! This Kingdom reality ushers us into the Throne Room and into the very presence of God. It qualifies us for every blessing, promise, every aspect of our inheritance, to reign in life as kings and to walk in the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ. NOW THAT IS GOOD NEWS!

TREASURES OF WALKING WITH GOD: “O GOD, YOU ARE MY GOD, EARNESTLY I SEEK YOU.” (Psalm 63:1) It is only when I am wholly surrendered to the Spirit that I will be able to live according to God’s will.
